Privacy policy

Explora (es.iaen.explora) · Last updated: 2026-10-28

Explora does not collect, store on any server, share or sell personal data.

  • No internet access. The app does not request the INTERNET permission, so it technically cannot send your files or any other data anywhere.
  • No ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. The app contains no advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code. It uses only the Android framework, with no other libraries.
  • All files access (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). A file manager needs to see the whole shared storage. With this permission, Explora lists, opens, searches, copies, moves, renames and deletes files and folders on your internal storage and SD or USB cards, as you use it. You grant it yourself in Android's settings, after a screen in the app explains why, and you can revoke it there at any time. The app cannot open the folders that Android protects from every app (such as other apps' private data).
  • Install apps (REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES). It is only used so that, when you tap an .apk file, Android's own installer opens. Android asks you to allow it, and the installer asks you to confirm each installation. Explora never installs anything by itself.
  • Your files stay on your device. A file only leaves Explora when you open it or send it with another app. When you open a file, the app you choose gets temporary access to read it and, if that app supports editing, to save changes to it. When you send files, the receiving app can only read them. Access is limited to the files you chose, through a private content:// provider that other apps cannot browse.
  • Thumbnails. Thumbnails of photos, videos, album art and APK icons are created on the device and kept only in memory while the app is running.
  • Deleting. Deleting asks for confirmation and is permanent: there is no recycle bin.
  • What is saved. Only your sort order (name, date, size or type; ascending or descending; folders first) and whether to show hidden files, in the app's private storage on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the app. App backups are disabled.
  • Links. The links on the About screen open in your browser.
  • Children. The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
  • Changes. If the way the app handles data changes, this page will be updated with a new date.
