// What it does

Photos

Keep the format, or use JPEG, WebP or PNG. Size by percentage, long edge or a box. Quality and a maximum file size. It never upscales.

Camera data

It can keep the date and the camera data. Location is always removed. Photos rotated by the camera come out upright.

Videos

MP4 H.264, H.265 if the phone can encode it, or audio only as M4A. Resolution, quality or a maximum size, frame rate, and mute.

Several at once

Photos and videos mixed, one after another, with progress for each and an estimated size.

Originals stay untouched

Results go to Pictures/Aligera, Movies/Aligera or Music/Aligera. You see the size before and after.

From wherever they are

Pick them with the photo or file picker, or send them with Share. When it finishes you can open or share them.

Private by design

No ads, no trackers. It has no internet permission: it cannot send anything anywhere.

// Good to know

  • Requires Android 11 or newer.
  • It asks you for no permission. The library that re-encodes video declares two normal permissions (view network connections and keep the phone from sleeping) that Android grants on its own. Without internet, no data can leave.
  • Keep the app open while it works: the screen does not turn off by itself.
  • Animated GIFs and animated WebP keep only the first frame.
  • Photos over 64 megapixels are reduced so they fit in memory, and the list shows that before you start.
  • Screenshots will be published when the Google Play listing is up.
  • The interface is in 24 languages.

Is Aligera free?

Yes. It is free, with no ads and no trackers.

Are my photos or videos uploaded?

No. It has no internet permission. Everything is compressed on the phone.

Are the originals modified?

No. If you press Delete originals, Android asks you to confirm and only deletes the ones you approve. Cloud files and files in other apps cannot be deleted from Aligera.

What happens to a photo's location?

It is never copied. The date and camera data are kept only if you leave that option on.

Which Android version do I need?

Android 11 or newer.
