Privacy policy
Aligera (es.iaen.aligera) · Last updated: 2026-10-28
Aligera does not collect, store on any server, share or sell personal data.
- No internet access. The app does not request the
INTERNET permission, so it technically cannot send data anywhere.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. The app contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code.
- One third-party library, on your phone. Videos are re-encoded with Media3 Transformer, a Google library that runs entirely on the device. Photos use only the Android framework.
- Permissions. The app asks you for no permission. Media3 declares two normal permissions that Android grants automatically and that appear in the app's details: view network connections (
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) and prevent phone from sleeping (WAKE_LOCK). Aligera's own code does not use them, and without the INTERNET permission no data can leave the phone. While a batch is running, the screen stays on through a window setting, which needs no permission.
- Your photos and videos. You choose them with Android's system photo picker or file picker (Downloads, cloud, USB), or you send them to Aligera with Share from another app. The app only receives the files you choose; it cannot see the rest of your storage.
- Everything happens on your phone. Files are compressed, resized and converted on the device. Nothing is uploaded.
- Results. They are saved as new files in the Pictures/Aligera, Movies/Aligera or Music/Aligera folders (through Android's MediaStore, with no storage permission). While a file is being processed, a temporary copy is kept in the app's private cache and deleted when it finishes. Share hands the results to the app you choose; what that app does with them is covered by that app's own policy.
- Originals. They are never modified. If you press Delete originals, Android shows its own confirmation and only deletes the files you approve; files in the cloud or in other apps cannot be deleted from Aligera.
- Photo metadata. If you keep the date and camera info option on, the date, the camera make and model, the exposure data and, if present, the author, rights and description tags are copied to the compressed photo. The location (GPS) is never copied.
- Settings. Your compression options are stored only on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
- No cloud backup. The app turns off Android backup, so its data is not copied to your Google account.
- Links. The links on the About screen (privacy policy, more apps and X) open in your browser.
- Children. The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
