Privacy policy
Gifea (es.iaen.gifea) · Last updated: 2026-10-28
Gifea does not collect, store on any server, share or sell personal data.
- No internet access. The app does not request the
INTERNET permission, so it technically cannot send data anywhere.
- No ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. The app contains no advertising or tracking code. It uses only the Android framework; the GIF encoder is the app's own code.
- No permissions. The app does not ask for any permission.
- Your photos and videos. You choose them with Android's system photo picker (or the file picker on phones that do not have it), or you send them to Gifea with Share from another app. The app only receives the items you choose; it cannot see the rest of your gallery.
- Everything happens on your phone. Frames are taken from the video, edited and turned into a GIF on the device itself. Nothing is uploaded.
- Working files. The frames of the GIF you are editing and the last GIF you created are kept in the app's private cache, so you can continue if Android closes the app. They are replaced when you start a new GIF and are deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- Your GIFs. A GIF is saved only when you press Save or Share: it goes to the Pictures/Gifea folder on your phone (through Android's MediaStore, with no storage permission). Share also hands it to the app you choose; what that app does with it is covered by that app's own policy.
- Settings. Your GIF options (speed, playback, format, size, quality, loop and the last caption you typed) are stored only on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
- No cloud backup. The app turns off Android backup, so its data is not copied to your Google account.
- Links. The links on the About screen (privacy policy, more apps and X) open in your browser.
- Children. The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
