// What it does

Live level

A, C or Z frequency weighting and fast (125 ms) or slow (1 s) response, following IEC 61672. Switching does not restart the measurement.

Leq, minimum, maximum and peak

The energy average, the extremes and the C-weighted peak of the wave.

History and spectrum

The last 60 seconds and a third-octave spectrum from 31.5 Hz to 16 kHz.

Daily exposure

The maximum time NIOSH recommends for the measured A-weighted Leq.

Calibration

Adjust it next to a reference meter. A phone is not certified measuring equipment.

It does not record

It reads the microphone in short blocks, calculates in memory and discards the sound straight away. Measuring stops when you leave the app.

Private by design

No ads, no trackers. It has no internet permission and does not listen in the background.

// Good to know

  • Requires Android 11 or newer.
  • The only permission is the microphone. Measuring stops as soon as you leave the app.
  • Below about 30 dB(A) the microphone's own noise dominates, and above 110–120 dB it can clip.
  • The screen stays on while it measures. The figures are not saved: they disappear when you press Reset or close the app.
  • Android backup is turned off.
  • Screenshots will be published when the Google Play listing is up.
  • The interface is in 24 languages.
